This workshop will examine the impact of family engagement in child care and early learning programs. The presentation will focus on the implications of family engagement, family support and center-family partnerships. We will provide techniques and tools to create, build and strengthen center-family partnerships.

Saundra Parker

Saundra was born and raised in Chicago Illinois. Ms. Parker is currently the Director of Child Development Lab Center at Malcolm X College. Saundra’s background spans the fields of early childhood, secondary and adult education. Her specific interest is in advancing researches in mental health in young children, positive guidance and family engagement. She began her career as early childhood assistant teacher in 2003. After receiving her bachelor from Northeastern Illinois University, she was promoted to lead teacher in the Preschool for All program with Chicago Public Schools. Saundra received her first master’s degree in Inner City Studies Education at Northeastern Illinois University Jacob H, Carruthers Center. She began working for nonprofit grassroots organizations as a Youth Coordinator. After completing her advance graduate degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Chicago State University; she began working for City Colleges of Chicago as a Coordinator II in adult education. Saundra returned to the field of early childhood education in 2013 as a early childhood program administrator.
